Warm trekking socks with a secure Flextech fit
Choose Honka when you prefer a medium-thickness trekking sock with a close, elastic fit. Made in Finland by UphillSport, Honka combines four-layer construction with 40% NATIVA merino wool, a fitted heel and arch grip.
From a cool morning start to the last stretch back to camp, its Flextech structure is designed to follow your foot for a secure feel inside your boots. With warmth rated 4/5 and thickness 2/3, Honka sits between the thin trekking options and the heavy cold-weather socks.
Why choose Honka?
- Flextech elastic structure: fit-focused construction with a fitted heel and arch grip.
- Warmth 4/5, thickness 2/3: a warm, medium-profile choice where your boots have room.
- Four-layer construction: a multilayer trekking design.
- 40% merino wool blend: merino throughout the sock, blended with acrylic, polyamide and elastane.
- Crew length and seamless toe: coverage above the ankle with a smooth toe finish.
Summer hiking
Consider Honka for cooler summer routes and high-country trips when you prefer a warm, medium-thickness sock. It is not the first choice for hot-weather hiking or snug footwear. Compare thin Malla or Teijo for lower-rated warmth, or Saana for a medium-thickness Flextech option rated warmth 3/5.
Winter hiking
Honka is worth considering for active winter walks when you want warmth and a secure fit without choosing a heavy 3/3 sock. Check the expected conditions and how it fits your boots. Warmth ratings compare models within the range; they are not temperature guarantees.
Professional outdoor use
Consider Honka for walking-intensive outdoor work when a medium-thickness sock suits your footwear and you prefer its Flextech fit. Compare Combat for a thinner, work-focused option rated warmth 4/5 and thickness 1/3. For a heavy cold-work option, compare Arctic at warmth 5/5 and thickness 3/3, allowing room for the extra bulk.
Honka, Repo or Posio?
Choose Honka for its Flextech elastic construction, fitted heel and arch grip. Choose Repo if you prefer its 64% merino and 10% Tencel blend with Drytech construction. Both rate warmth 4/5 and thickness 2/3; the ratings do not establish that one is warmer or more durable.
Choose Posio if you want the same listed 4/5 warmth rating in a thinner 1/3 profile. Choose by fit and construction preference rather than assuming thicker always means warmer.

UphillSport® is an outdoor lifestyle brand originating from Finland, renowned for its high-performance socks specifically engineered for extreme outdoor conditions. Rooted in the Tampere region—an area with over 200 years of rich textile manufacturing heritage—UphillSport benefits from unparalleled craftsmanship and innovation in textile production.
The brand is created and produced by Sukkamestarit Ltd, a Finnish company with a long-standing history in sock manufacturing since 1996. Leveraging decades of expertise, Sukkamestarit has honed advanced techniques to produce premium performance socks capable of withstanding the harsh, cold, and moist sub-Arctic climates typical of northern Finland.
Launched in 2014, the UphillSport® brand combines traditional textile heritage with cutting-edge technology, focusing on multi-layer sock systems that maximize breathability, moisture management, durability, and warmth. Each pair of UphillSport socks undergoes rigorous Arctic testing to ensure reliability in extreme weather conditions, making them a trusted choice for outdoor enthusiasts, athletes, and professionals alike.
UphillSport's product range includes specialized socks for hiking, running, skiing, fishing, and workwear, designed to provide unparalleled comfort and protection on any adventure—from Arctic expeditions to rugged Australian treks. The brand’s commitment to innovation and quality is further exemplified by its military-grade performance credentials, such as being worn during the Netherlands Marine Corps’ world record speed march under freezing temperatures.
Today, UphillSport stands as a premium sock brand that seamlessly blends Finnish tradition with modern technological innovation, dedicated to delivering durable, multi-layered socks that keep feet dry, warm, and supported no matter the challenge.
UphillSport® has revolutionized outdoor and performance socks through their pioneering Multi-layer System technology. At the heart of their innovation is a carefully engineered technical multilayer structure that allows the creation of socks that are remarkably warm while maintaining a slim and lightweight profile. Unlike traditional thick socks that rely solely on bulk to provide insulation, UphillSport® leverages the unique properties of different materials layered strategically to optimize performance.
Each layer in the Multi-layer System serves a specific function — from enhancing breathability and managing moisture, to increasing durability and delivering superior warmth in harsh conditions. This approach ensures that UphillSport® socks effectively regulate temperature and keep feet dry, even during intense physical activities or in extreme outdoor environments.
Ideal for active outdoor enthusiasts and performance athletes alike, these socks provide comfort and protection without compromising mobility or fit. Whether hiking, skiing, or engaged in tactical work, UphillSport® socks offer the technical advantages needed for high-performance demands.
Committed to continuous innovation, UphillSport® combines advanced manufacturing expertise with sustainable practices, ensuring their products are not only technically advanced but also environmentally responsible.
